Week Ending 2-21-09

Well, as I look at my blog background I see it needs some serious updating as Valentine's has come and gone.

The week started out pretty crappy as I awoke about 3:30 a.m. Monday morning with a migraine. I actually had woke up earlier but tried to just sleep it off but no luck. I took 2 pills and back to bed. At 6 a.m. I emailed my boss that I was sick. By 10 a.m. I had taken the max limit of my migraine medicine and I was still in pain. I called my dr. in Columbia and it was 1:30 pm before I heard back but they were calling in a pain killer for me. I got that by 3 pm and took 1 and by 4:30 pm took another. (It said I could take 2 at the beginning but I didn't.) I thought maybe around 6:30 my headache let up a little and I started working for home but by 9 pm my headache was coming back with a vengance. So 2 pain pills later I found myself going to bed.

At 2 a.m. I woke up....sorry.... puking, and did this every 1/2 hour until 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. I once again emailed my boss I was still stick but could work from home. I 5 am I finally realized the headache was gone but had no idea how long I would be barfing. I think I finally came to the conclusion that I had taken so much medicine it just made me sick.

I have been going to a neurologist since August. I am on 2 preventive migraine medicines but still get them and they are very debilitating. If anybody out there has some "wonder cure", please, let me know!!!!

The 5th grade girls team played in Clarence this week. Since Chelsey's bracket only had 5 teams and they won their first game, they only play again today at 2:30 pm for 1st. We've done a little scoping out the competition and think we're in for a tough game.

Chase has also been sick this week with the bad headache and the sinus congestion. Yesterday brought a new twist to the symptoms when he told me he had 5 nosebleeds at school during the day. His shirt contained all the evidence. We set up the cool mist vaporizer last night by his bed but he said he woke up a couple times last night with nosebleeds.

It seems if it's not one thing it's another.

You know, it's pretty bad when I can't find my clothes because my 11 year old daughter has them on. Then again, when I can't find a T-shirt to wear I got to my son's closet. I'm not really sure what that means.....

Later.

Valentine Treats

Last night I made my last elementary treats for a holiday. Oh, the end to an era! And I chose to make rice krispy treats......did I forget that I don't do sticky stuff very well??? I remember the year I thought I would make popcorn balls for halloween to hand out. I had popcorn from the tips of my fingers to my elbows and bawling before it was all over.....well, some 15 years later the whole experience seemed to almost repeat itself with rice krispy treats. Once again, I had rice krispy's with marshmallow stuff from the end of my fingers up to my elbows......the only difference, I remained calm and remembered what my step-mom told me so many years ago, need more butter on your hands.....oh yeah, how could I forget?!?!?! So Chelsey pushed up my sleeves and I dug into the butter and managed to get the treats made without tears and Chelsey put the final touches on one pan. The finished product is gloriously displayed above. For anybody that is struggling with what is says, the first line is a row of hearts; the second line reads HAPPY and the final row says - V~DAY~. I must say, I really should have attempted this fine treat long ago as they were scrumptious and even better with a little chocolate icing added.

Who needs a kleenex when you've got a dog to do the job!!!!

Hump Day............

So I made it to Wednesday, the middle of the road, for the work week that is. Have I accomplished anything so far? Not really. Alot of ebay watching and facebook reading, idol and the bachelor watching, but not a whole lot of much else. Oh, I've fed my kids, done a load of laundry or two and been to ball practice once already but that is about the extent of it.

My life revolves around sports practice

Ok, so my daughter has had basketball practice twice already this week. I know, I'm the coach, I'm in control of how many practices we have and really, twice a week isn't that bad. But now we throw in baseball practice for Chase which started today as well as practice for a traveling basketball team he is now on.

Actually, I'm ok with practice, because if they are at practice and being active, their butts aren't on the coach in front of the TV and at the end of the bed playing X-box. It's exercise, which does a body good!!

Who would of thought that today, except of being a little damp out, the could have actually had baseball practice outside. It was 51 degress at 9 a.m. I'm sure when this practice was set up a week or so ago it was probably like, what, 10 degrees? Anyway, after that was over, we headed to Paris for traveling basketball practice. There are 11 boys total on the team, 2 from Shelbina, 1 from Clarence, 2 from Shelbyville and 6 from Paris. I think it's great for Chase to play with a mixture of boys and it builds relationships of comradery. (did I spell that right?) Anyway, after that was over we came home and Chase and I shot baskets outside. His mom may be old but she can sure still give him a run for his money at the hoops. ( from a stationary shot that is) He's on to Quincy tonight to watch South play in the shoot out at Quincy Notre Dame and Chelsey decided she just wanted to chill at home, which was fine with me as the laundry is in desperate need of being caught up. So it pj's early tonight for me!!

The Last Few Days

Well, let's see, Sunday I spent most of the day cleaning and cooking preparing for company coming over to watch the Super Bowl. I am definitely sports fan but don't get into pro football too much. I watch the Super Bowl and am always intrigued about what the half-time entertainment will be. ( Hate to miss any wardrobe malfunctions, ha!!) I thought that Faith Hill and Jennifer Hudson gave amazing performances but was not impressed by the Boss at half-time. The were some funny commercials but it is totally INSANE what the cost to run one is. The game was totally worth watching. The was an amazing catch by the Steelers at the end, even looked like he had practiced a little bit of ballet with the tip toe touch in bounds!!

I had the opportunity to fix supper last night but Chase informed me there was a drastic difference in sausage gravy and the kind gravy that I had made after frying pork steak. Duh - I could of told him that! He decided to each his biscuits with just butter. Oh well, his loss.

Chelsey and I settled in to watch one of our favorites, the Bachelor. I have watched every season since I watched the last 2 episodes of the very first season. I know, get a life, but I like what I like. My vote is for Melissa, I think, sort of torn between her and Molly.

My 5th grade girls basketball team had practice tonight. We finished our season at Moberly and have moved on to the Shelbina Lions Club League. The team has just a couple different players and are doing very well, they are so improved. It's been a learning experience for us all, me as a coach and them as players. I hope they have the same good things to say about me. I look forward to our first game coming up to try out our acquired skills.

So it's on to American Idol tonight for a bit and see what Hollywood brings out in the contestants. See ya.
